Subject choices advice?10 points for best answer.;)?

We are choosing our subjects for our L.C at the end of this year and i still don't have a clue what i want to do when i'm older? I'm studying all the basic subjects at the moment..e.g.English,Irish,Maths, Science etc. and my choice subjects are business, art, woodwork and german. I'd be interested in studying zoology when i'm older but what subjects would that require? I'm also considering English or Art, which of these would be best?

Any help appreciated.

Well you're core subjects Irish, English, Maths, German are set.

(You need a third language, German if its what you're already doing, for any course).

If you're considering doing Art then you will need art (and a portfolio, there are courses you can do to help build a portfolio).

If you want to do Zoology you need higher level science and maths.

You don't say whether you're going to do one or two science subjects. If you're doing one then it should be biology.

If you're doing two then chemistry will be more useful, but if you think you'll do better in physics you should do physics.

Between business and woodwork you should just choose whichever you'll get more points in.

The following sets would allow you to apply for Art, Zoology, English-

Irish

Maths (HL)

English (HL)

German

Biology (HL)

Physics OR Chemistry (HL)

Art

Zoology programs basically require you to have english, biology, and chemistry,

as well as potentially calculus and physics.

English is in the arts faculty, so you can do a split or double major in English (but you'll have to be more precise - for example, study of historical literature), and arts (which I'm assuming you mean drawing/ painting etc).

Talk to you guidance counsellor or someone like that who can show you all the options in an arts faculty.

You'll have to spend many hours researching schools and seeing what they have to offer.
i had the same predicament as you 2 years ago , i decided not to do zoology as one of the courses i wanted i couldnt get into and the other one was in kerry and i lived in kildare at the time. wat i ended up doing was choosing a course called tourism managemnet in DIT.

i thought the first semester was ok and i hated the second semester , i ended dropping out because it wasnt wat i wanted to do. i was only 17 when i went into my first year of college and i stil think i was too young , im 19 now and im thinkin about doing another course next year, somethin to do with animals that will tie in with zoology.

my advie to you is maybe take a year out before you go inot your first year of college. if your not sure at this satge wat course you want to do then maybe you should wait a year and it might make your decision easier. im not saying you shouldnt decide now im just giving you advice that i should have taken.

i hope this helps you xx
if you want to study zoology, take as much science as you can. biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry.

english is definitely more beneficial than art, especially if you plan on going to college. it will help prepare you to write better papers for any class you take. plus, youll have plenty of chances to take art classes once you start college.
I think your best bet is to take the subjects that are more important and are required for future careers that you are looking into. Eg. Zoology requires science so mabye take science all your years? Do not waste your time on subjects such as art unless it will be incorporated as a skill you need for your future career.

Basically take whatever subjects you think are the most beneficial
That's... difficult.

Just go with your favorite then, just something fun, like art?
